Security Systems

Systems is the name of the team of Security staff dedicated to managing the Macquarie University electronic security systems.
This is a task which includes:

installing new security systems as requested by the various university Tenants, Faculties, Divisions and Business Units;

maintaining those systems already installed;
-
upgrading security systems infrastructure,
-
investigating new security technologies and
-
liaising with many people to ensure that what we have is appropriate for the university needs.
Systems managed, maintained and installed include:
Access Control Systems
Card Readers (Magnetic Stripe, Proximity and SmartCard), Auto doors, Boomgates and proximity cards to name a few. Learn more »
Alarm Systems
Intruder Alarms, Duress Alarms, Equipment Alarms (PC's, Printers, Servers), Building Systems Alarms (Fire Sensors, Freezers, Heaters, Air-conditioners). Learn more »
Help Points
Specialised units placed in key locations around Macquarie University and in some buildings. These units combine elements of all the above. Upon activation they Activate an Alarm System, alert an Access Control Alarm and Activate a monitored camera and intercom. Learn more »
Keysafes & Laptop Safes
Specialised units that allow complete control over who gains access to keys, laptops, mobiles and other valuables. These units not only incorporate an alarm system, they will not open or even release an item without an individual PIN code.
CCTV/DVR (Cameras)
Closed Circuit TV (CCTV) and DVR (Digital Video Recording), including linking these systems to Alarm Systems, Access Control and Help Points. Learn more »
All access control systems, alarm systems, CCTV/DVR, and Help Points are monitored by the Macquarie University Security Control Centre.
A security review of an area or any of the above items (and others) can be requested by submitting a BGO Service Request Form authorised by the Head of Division or Office.
