Restricted Parking Areas Scheme
A Restricted Parking Areas Scheme operates at Macquarie University.
The purpose of this scheme is to allow the University's Traffic and Parking Rules to be applied uniformly to all vehicles entering and seeking parking on campus, whether staff, students or visitors.
Pay & display parking areas, with ticket dispensing machines, are located at the following locations (see map.).
- Kerbside Aquatic Centre - 1 hour parking only
- N1 Carpark (north of Library) - 1 hour parking only
- N3 Carpark (near Culloden Rd)
- W4 Carpark (south of building W6A)
- X3 Carpark (south of building X5A)
- X4 Carpark (south of Banksia Cottage)
Pay & display ticket holders may only park in these carparks and must display the ticket on the dashboard.
Holders of standard periodical permits (windscreen stickers) may park in carparks across campus.
Any driver who violates the University's Traffic and Parking Rules, eg by parking in the wrong area with the wrong kind of permit, and/or contrary to signs will be issued with an infringement notice, through the Self Enforcing Infringement Notice Scheme (SEINS) system managed by the NSW State Debt Recovery Office.
Infringements will include breaches of any of the existing parking restrictions, ie no parking in reserved and/or special permit areas (generally line marked in yellow), no parking in access lanes/roadways, no parking in areas other than marked parking bays, etc.
In summary, the Restricted Parking Areas Scheme means:
- parking is permitted only in designated parking areas, ie in marked and/or signposted bays
- infringement notices will be enforced by the SEINS scheme.
TIPS for avoiding 'Infringement Notice' at Macquarie University
- Know the traffic and parking rules and observe them.
- Park only in designated marked parking spaces.
- Make sure your current permit is clearly visible inside the driver's side of the of the windscreen.
- Do not use 'disabled only' parking areas for parking, loading or unloading even if the vehicle is occupied.
- Read and follow instructions on all signs posted at each parking area.
- Do not park over the space line, on the street, sidewalk or lawn.
- Observe time limitatiion or restriciton.
- Remember that parking in the same manner as another illegally parked vehicle does not make you exempt from an infringement notice.
- Parking requires thought, consideration, effort, and perhaps extra time. Allow yourself that time.
